New Member: Stelfanie Williams

Please join us in welcoming new member, Stelfanie Williams.

Stelfanie Williams has served as Duke’s vice president for Durham affairs since August 2018.  In this role, Williams leads and coordinates Duke’s diverse and innovative community efforts in areas such as economic development, affordable housing, early childhood, K-12 and workforce education, student engagement, neighborhood relations and community health.  She builds connections between Duke and Durham Public Schools, Durham Technical Community College and North Carolina Central University, as well as with non-profit and community-based organizationsPrior to joining Duke, Williams served as president of Vance-Granville Community CollegeA noted presenter and consultant on topics related to workforce development, Williams also is active on a number of public and private boardscivic organizations, and commissions. Among other honors, Williams was selected for the White House Regional Community College Summit in 2011, and in 2014 she was awarded the I.E. Ready Distinguished Leadership Award by NC State UniversityIn 2018, she was named “President of the Year” by the North Carolina State Board of Community Colleges, and in 2019 she was selected as a Distinguished Alumna by NC State University. Williams received her undergraduate dual degree in public policy and Spanish from Duke and a doctorate in education from NC State University.
