Durham Rotary Shines in Foundation Contributions

CONGRATULATIONS are in order for the Durham Rotary Club, Foundation Chair Andy Esser and the club Foundation Committee.  At the recent District 7710 training session on January 27, District Foundation Chair Newman Aguiar reviewed the six months giving to The Rotary Foundation by the district and highlighted several clubs for their gifts.  He began by announcing that the District had nearly reached half of its goal for the year of $500,000, the largest goal ever set for the Foundation by the District.  That in itself was a victory for Foundation projects around the world and here at home as we seek”To Do Good In The World.”  Here is where our club stood out.

Durham Rotary Club, the largest club in the district, placed #1 in Annual Fund Total Giving at $48,087.49.  We were second in Per Capita giving at $226.83.  Again, we were second in Polio Plus giving at $6,341., which is more than half way toward our goal for the year of $10,000. These are important levels of giving representing the gifts of 148 Active members or 75 percent of our club members.  So. congratulations to the club for  seeing the importance of supporting the wonderful work that Rotary does here in our community and around the world.  We are encouraged to continue this fantastic level of giving and we hope that many of our newest members as well as those who might not have given to the Foundation this year will see the value of our work together through The Rotary Foundation and make a gift this second half of the Rotary year.  We encourage members to become Sustaining Members at a gift of at least $50 per year and we encourage members to consider becoming Paul Harris Society members which means making a gift of $1000 per year or $85. a month.  Much of our success is due to the large number of Paul Harris Society members in our club who are champions of The Rotary Foundation.
